This area is concerned with the study of people, their history, their varying cultures and environments.
Teachers use an inquiry approach and look to integrate ideas and develop skills for life. Each year group will participate in relevant external excursions to complement their classroom learning.
The aim of the Key Learning Area of Human Society in Its Environment is concerned with the study of people, their history, their varying cultures and environments. Particular attention is focussed on our own country with its multicultural society. Teachers use an inquiry approach and look to integrate ideas and develop skills for life.
Learning about human society and the environment provides scope for students to develop their own opinions and viewpoints and to understand and respect the rights of others. Students will develop their research skills, problem solving and decision making skills. Students will also learn to participate co-operatively in group situations and will learn when and how to take responsible social and civic action.
