Public Speaking Success!

Congratulations to Abigail R for taking out second place in the CSBB Public Speaking Competition finals!

We’re incredibly proud of Abi’s impressive public speaking talents. Over a thousand students from 37 schools took part in the competition. Abi truly stood out. Earlier this month, she was one of 12 students to advance from the Northern Beaches competition, securing her place in the finals. The top two speakers from clusters across the Northern Beaches, North Shore, and Central Coast came together for the grand final.

The grand final took place at Sacred Heart, Pymble, on Tuesday evening, 17 September, with a prestigious judging panel that included:

  • Danny Casey – Director of Schools
  • Liz Calabria – Strategy Lead, Student Achievement
  • Nathan Tilbury – is a long-serving councillor at Hornsby Shire Council and Vice President of the Hornsby Shire Historical Society

Abi wowed the audience with her polished 3-minute speech. Her topic was “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Albert Einstein She then faced the challenge of crafting a 1-minute impromptu speech on the topic “Sweet or Sour,” holding the audience spellbound with her confidence, strong voice projection, and engaging content.

We also extend our congratulations to Ilaria R, a former OLGC student now attending Prouille Catholic Primary School in Wahroonga, who claimed first place in this year’s competition.

Well done to both girls on their outstanding achievements!
