Parent & Parish News Week 10, Term 1 2025

As we approach the Easter school holidays, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible community here at OLGC. Each day, we are inspired by the care and support shown by our staff and families, fostering the unique spirit that makes this community so special and cherished.

Our hope is that during the school holidays you are able to enjoy some relaxing time with your children and just being together to build on family relationships. Building strong family relationships doesn’t have to be complicated! Here are some simple and meaningful ways to nurture connections:

The little moments of connection often leave lasting impressions

  • Share meals together.
  • Have family game night
  • Take walks or do activities outdoors
  • Create family traditions – such as movie nights
  • Celebrate small achievements
  • Volunteer or work on projects together

OLGC Easter Liturgies at School.

A big thank you to all the staff, children and families who came to gather and watch our presentations of the Easter Story. From Kindergarten to Year 6, students have been busy learning and deeply connecting with their part in the Easter Story.

Below is the list of presentations:

As we celebrate the joyous occasion of Easter, let us remember the profound significance of Christ’s resurrection. This season is a time of renewal, hope, and new beginnings.

PARISH NEWS

Palm Sunday celebrations.

On Sunday, 13 April (Palm Sunday – the beginning of Holy week) there will be palm procession into church, and we would love children to be involved in leading the palm procession. At the 10am Sunday Mass, Children are invited to meet a few minutes early to be the leaders of the procession. There will also be children’s liturgy at the 10am mass. Come along and have some fun with the palms.

Playgroup

Play group is held each Wednesday morning during the school term, in the school hall 9:45am- 10:30am it is a wonderful time for children to play together, sing songs and develop friendships.

Youth group

PRIME youth group is on Friday, 11 April. All Students in years 5/6/7 and 8 are welcome to come along for some food, fun and friendship.

Further to that we have a special invitation for our young people. Each Good Friday the youth of the parish put on an enactment of the Stations of the cross for the parish. This is where the youth act out the events of Good Friday when Jesus died on the cross. It is similar to what they do at school for the Holy Week Liturgies.

This year we would like the PRIME youth group to be involved in the enactment for the parish. It will be on Good Friday – Friday, 18 April at 10am at ST MARTIN’S DAVIDSON church. Family and Friends are welcome to come along and attend the liturgy.

This is such a special event, and the parish would appreciate the children being involved. Each year our youth enjoy participating and get so much from being involved.  As it is in the middle of the school holidays, we would have a practice or two during the week before Good Friday. Once we know who many children are interested then we will be able to make rehearsal plans.
