Universal Design for Learning is being passionately embraced in Australia. This week at the Successful Learner Conference at Sydney University, the keynote speaker advocated for the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework to cater for the diverse range of needs of students and foster inclusion. The conference aims to focus on the implementation of educational practices that are inclusive of students with a range of educational, social and emotional needs. At OLGC, we are committed to continually reflecting on our own practice to build a learning context which aims to cater for learner variability and remove the barriers to ensure all of our students are both engaged and have access to the curriculum.
This week, my curriculum article is an audio file where I have interviewed one of our talented teachers about the initial stages of her journey with UDL and its implementation in Stage 3. I hope you are able to take the time to hear Megan Kenny (Kindergarten teacher and Coordinator Release Teacher) describe her exploration of the guidelines with Stage 3, the reflection on her teaching and the impact on the students. Thank you, Megan, for sharing your experience! Please click on the link at the top of this page, up near the heading to listen to the interview.
